Care and Repair
Care
Choosing the right care, can make a huge difference for the lifespan of your clothes. And how we care for garments make a huge difference in a garments total impact.
Because I have low stock of materials, it is not always possible to have a care instruction in the side seam, if this is the case, I will always make a small guide in the style description that I suggest you follow.
So my general advice is:
-
Wash as little as possible. If your clothes doesn't smell too bad, you can hang it outside and let the sun and wind do the work.
-
You can also put your garment in the freezer to remove smell. This will not remove possible bacteria.
-
If you have an accident and get a stain on your garment, I recommend cleaning it as soon as possible, since it makes it easier to get rid of. In many cases you can make a spot cleaning, and avoid washing it in the machine.
-
You can use a washing bag to spare the fabric.
- Silk fabrics should not be washed. You can hang it outside and let the fresh air do its work, or you can wrap it up and put it in the freezer. In case of stains, smell that can't go away, I suggest you take it to a professional cleaner.
Repair
Sometimes the only thing that keeps you from wearing your favorite garment, is a missing button or a ripped seam. Most repairs are possible. I highly recommend taking your garment to a professional tailor, if it needs repair or alterations, for the best results. But if you want to mend your clothes yourself there is a lot of great ideas and tips to find online.
Repairing and mending, are an important way to keep the impact of your garment to a minimum.
